Our approach

Practice Plus Group was founded as Care UK in 1982 and rebranded in 2020. We provide high-quality hospital care across England, including elective treatment at our hospitals and surgical centres, diagnostic services and urgent treatment centres, delivering treatment for both private and NHS patients.

We make it easier for patients to access the care they need, whether that’s through private self-pay treatment, private medical insurance, or NHS-funded care. Our focus is simple: fast access to expert consultants, clear pathways to treatment, and high standards of clinical care. Whether you need a scan, a diagnosis, urgent treatment or planned surgery, our focus is on fast access, clinical expertise and a positive patient experience.

Each year we assess, diagnose and treat thousands of patients, supporting a wide range of conditions with consultant-led care, modern facilities and a strong commitment to patient safety and experience.

We are proud to be one of the UK’s leading providers of hospital and diagnostic services, with a track record of high clinical standards and consistently strong CQC ratings across our services.

We are committed to making healthcare accessible and straightforward, supportive and focused on getting you treated quickly and safely.

Working alongside the NHS

At Practice Plus Group we have a proud history of working closely with the NHS to deliver high quality healthcare services, reducing waiting times and giving the patient a greater level of choice.

Patients at the heart

The main benefit of our partnership with the NHS is a better service for patients. Working with a range of partners enables the NHS to ensure that patients are treated quickly and professionally in a location and at a time of their choosing. Together we can focus on improving the quality of service delivery, reducing waiting times and ensuring positive treatment outcomes for everyone.

  • Our hospitals don’t deal with emergency cases and specialise in a select range of treatment; this means that the NHS patients who use our services know they will get the treatment that they were expecting, on the day they were expecting it.
  • We use our ability to be agile and innovate to help the NHS introduce new ideas and ways of working; we’re always coming up with plans for improving the value we deliver to our NHS partners and the experience we give our patients.

Alongside our NHS services, we also provide private healthcare for self-funding and for those who have private medical insurance, giving greater flexibility and choice over when and how treatment is accessed.

Unrivalled experience

We are one of the largest independent healthcare providers in England, delivering urgent, diagnostic and planned care services across our hospital and clinical network.

  • Thousands of patients treated each year
  • Nationwide network of hospitals, UTCs and diagnostic services
  • Strong experience across urgent and elective care pathways
  • Consistently high standards of clinical quality and patient safety

Why patients choose us

  • Clear, straightforward patient pathways from referral to recovery
  • Fast access to diagnostics, treatment and surgery
  • Private self-pay, insured, and NHS-funded care options
  • Urgent treatment centres for minor injuries and illness
  • Modern hospitals, diagnostic centres and UTCs across England
  • Consultant-led care focused on safety and outcomes

Real stories. Real recoveries.
Real life-changing results.

Above and beyond

Big shout out to Practice Plus Group Plymouth who went above and beyond to make my day case visit today as comfortable as possible, from the day case nurses to all the theatre staff. Special mention to Carly, Cathy, Amy and Elaine(?) nothing was too much trouble!

Knee replacement, Ilford – I couldn’t praise this unit enough

I had a full knee replacement on Tuesday and I couldn’t praise this unit enough. The nurses and catering staff were very friendly. The nurses also explained everything that was going to happen with my operation and answered any of my concerns. The doctor and anaesthetist also explained to me all about what they were going to do and checked that I was happy before they proceeded. After my operation the nurses were there to help with all my needs. This unit is covid/disease secure so no visitors are allowed but you can take in your mobile phone or tablet and the Wi-Fi is free.

Cataract surgery, Gillingham – friendly, caring and professional

Attended for cataract surgery and cannot fault the care I received from every single member of staff. Following a warm and friendly welcome at reception, pre surgery checks were carried out in a friendly, caring and professional manner with everything clearly explained – this carried through to the actual procedure where theatre staff were so kind and reassuring.
